Ramie is a natural plant-sourced fibre similar to flax. It is softer and finer than flax. Ramie is a flowering plant in the nettle family, native to eastern Asia.
Ramie can be blended with other fibres to make it easier to spin with. It has twice the water absorbency of cotton, and is good for hot, humid weather.
Each bag contains 100g
The use of ramie in textiles can be traced back to pre-historic times, and it has been promoted as a valuable fibre because of its strength and durability.
However, harvesting and processing ramie fibre is labour-intensive, diminishing its commercial popularity.
