About the breed
The Norwegian is one of the world's oldest sheep breeds, and are in the general group of Northern European Short-Tailed Sheep.
These breeds are, unsurprisingly, tough as nails -- they have no problem being outdoors all year round, throughout Norway's gentle summers as well as its punishing winters. A snow-covered, rocky field is no match for them, as they are ready to dig through the snow with their hooves, and will happily eat whatever vegetation is available.
Like other heritage breeds, those raised along the coast will readily help themselves to kelp and other brackish seaweed to fill up.
