About the breed
The Dorset Horn is a rare breed of British sheep, once endangered, but as of 2007 its conservation status is "not at risk."
Although not officially established as a recognized breed until the 1890's, Dorset Horn sheep are believed to be one of the oldest de facto breeds in Britain. They are highly adaptable to different environments, but are mainly raised in the southwestern corner of England.
